Accounting services is a fast growing small business. The main reason for this is that small businesses across the globe are becoming more prevalent. Every business no matter what service they provide or product they make has to have some kind of accounting system.

Accounting shows not only how a business is doing financially but it also shows what needs to be done in order to keep on doing business. Accounting is how inventory is kept up with and what is owed and to whom and when it is due.

For some small business owners doing the work of accounting on top of running their business is simply too much work. This is where an accounting services company has the opportunity to shine and make money themselves.

Accounting Services a Great Small Business Idea

It is not necessary to be a certified public accountant in order to run your own accounting services business. Bookkeepers are also able to have an accounting services business. Often, these businesses start off as a single person doing the books for someone they know on a personal level. Then through word of mouth they will sometimes get a few more clients then they have an accounting services business. While it is not always this easy, it can be very rewarding.

Owning your own accounting services business means meeting a lot of different people. Like with any small business the return customer or client is your main goal. These are the ones that will pay your bills. The clients will be from all kinds of industries and the person doing the accounting will do the books for several of them but while keeping the accounting separate for each business.

The main tasks that an accounting service will do for each customer is to help them keep track of all their financial accounts. For some businesses this means doing everything from billing and posting checks to the annual reports and taxes. While for others it may mean simply doing the payroll and the annual reports.

Accounting services is a very flexible business.  You have to be able to give each one of the customers your full attention. Tax season is the busiest time of the year for these kinds of businesses. The work load can double or even triple and the customers that get their daily bookkeeping from your company are still going to expect their books to be done. This is the time some small businesses consider hiring a temporary worker to help out for a few months. These workers can be anything from clerks all the way to full charge bookkeepers depending on the needs of the small business.

As far as owning a small business goes accounting services is a great one for a single person to own and run. There is no real overhead cost since most of the time you will be going to your clients. There is no inventory to keep on hand and only yourself to consider as an employee. If you are someone who enjoys working with customers and has a background in accounting this could be the perfect small business for you.

A great way to get started with your own accounting services business is to go to school either online or in person and learn about accounting. This is a field that builds on its self and has many opportunities for growth. When just starting out you are considered a clerk and as such you would start off learning about accounts payable and receivable. There is a lot of filing and data entry in this position, but it can be done while in school.

Once a person graduates college then they can become an Accountant or a Bookkeeper. This is much more involved and has quite a bit of responsibility. This person does what the clerk does but also generates reports and payroll for the entire company. It is at this point with some experience that a person may consider opening their own small business.

Shedding a little light on the field of private investigating for those interested in making a career move.

The Private Investigator: a challenging job with a notorious reputation for being as shady as a group of palm trees, but can we now say that the ‘PI’ is not as shady as the cliché shows to us in the media today?

PIs or private investigators can be hired for many reasons however a reputation has surrounded the PI title as being shady and unprofessional. However, as the media has shown PIs can come in handy in times of great need and desperation.

Most private investigators have to be a member of a recognised association within the industry to practice their career path so the myths of people peeping through windows or hiding in bushes can finally be put to rest. Private investigators can deal with matters covering a range of things: everything from missing family members to suspected infidelity and from corporate to commercial matters.

Private investigation also has the perception of a typically male career path, however it is an equally occupied job. This kind of work requires the person to have some kind of marketing niche if they want to thrive, although the path can be started from scratch. For example, a retired police officer could specialise in PI work surrounding criminal activity by using his knowledge from his past.

The typical cliché of the private investigator being a well-paid job is not a cliché, it is more of an unspoken reality. A fee of anything from £40-400 could be charged however national averages have shown that the average of a PI fee will range from £35-75 an hour. As most Private Investigators will be part of an agency, 25% of their earnings will be taken from the agency. For example, if a private investigator charges £35 for an hour of his/her time £8.75 will be deducted from their overall pay straight away because of their affiliation with a company or agency supplying and marketing their particular set of skills.

So if you have ever considered becoming a private investigator, four important truths need to be remembered:

1.    PIs are as professional as office workers.
2.    A Licence is a must! You cannot practice what you preach if you don’t have a licence to show for it!
3.    Have an idea of what market you wish to join or join an agency surrounded by your preferred idea.
4.    Always remember why you joined the profession in the first place!

However, you must know the rules and regulations involved in the business, such as where to get your supply of fresh fish at reasonable prices by bulk, the proper pricing to enforce and how to maintain the cleanliness of your fish market to ensure that all health and safety standards are met.

Before you start a fish market business, you must first learn about the necessary licenses and permits needed as local, state and federal agencies monitor the retail sales of fresh fish and seafood. You will be required to secure a federal tax identification number, business license, occupancy and safety certificates and specific permits or licenses for the retailing of fresh fish and seafood. The health department will also conduct an inspection prior to the day you begin operating your business.

Supply and Demand

It is essential to learn about the supply and demand of fresh fish and seafood in your area. Having a combination of ocean and fresh water fish will offer your customers a variety to choose from. This is why you must have several local restaurants purchasing fresh fish and seafood from you regularly. Make sure that your fish and seafood are stored and displayed properly. Some of your fish must be placed on ice when being displayed, while having the rest stored in a cooler. Sell the fish that are displayed on ice first then replace them with those in the cooler. Quality fresh fish are those that have bright crystal eyes, moist, slippery and shiny bodies and smell fresh. You will have to lower your selling price before the day ends and before your fish begin to smell so they may sell quickly. Tanks used for storing seafood must be clean and have safe temperatures.

Make Sure Your Fish Market is Clean

Eliminating that fishy smell from your fish market is necessary if you want your business to be safe and clean. Regular cleaning and mopping, changing of ice and placing lemons in between the ice during business hours will help reduce any fishy smell and avoid any accidents such as customers slipping on puddles of dirty water. Cleaning your fish market is essential, at the end of every business day. Simply using a hose or a bucket of water won’t clean the place up completely. It is better if you hire the services of a pressure washer company that can help you remove any scales, fish parts, blood and fishy smell left in your fish market. Since you have professionals taking care of the job for you, you won’t have to worry about the cleanliness and safety of your fish market that will have to open early the next day.
